US President-elect Donald Trump on Friday said that he had a productive conversation with Chinese premier Xi Jinping, covering a range of critical issues, including trade, fentanyl, and the social media platform TikTok.

Trump further emphasised the importance of collaboration between the two nations, stating, “President Xi and I will do everything possible to make the World more peaceful and safe!”

This exchange follows Trump’s earlier remarks on January 6, where he noted ongoing communication with Xi through representatives and expressed optimism about strengthening their bilateral relationship.
No início do dia, a China anunciou que Jinping compareceria à posse de Trump, marcada para 20 de janeiro em Washington, mas nomeou o vice-presidente Han Zheng como seu representante especial.
“We stand ready to work with the new US government to enhance dialogue and communication, properly manage differences, expand mutually beneficial cooperation, jointly pursue a stable, healthy and sustainable China-US relations and find the right way for the two countries to get along with each other,” the Chinese Foreign Ministry said in an official statement.
