The Financial Times says Chinese President Xi Jinping will send a high-level envoy to Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration in a move aimed at reducing friction between China and the US.
The British newspaper reported this on Thursday, quoting several people familiar with the talks. It said Beijing has informed Trump’s transition team that a top official would attend instead of Xi.
Trump invited the Chinese president to the inauguration ceremony on January 20.
